Robustos
Smoking a hand-rolled, long filler robusto is rather like going to bed with a medium height, well-proportioned woman – it gives you something substantial to hold on to when you’re having fun. Some of my female friends have admitted that the same principle applies to men.
What it all comes down to, if you excuse the pun, is that in the cigar world, anyway, width, not length, is something many of today’s smokers now prefer.
Generally speaking, the ring gauge of a robusto is usually slightly larger than that of a Churchill cigar, and about two thirds of its length. With a premium robusto, you get all the pleasure of the longer cigar over a much shorter period of smoking time. And time, for some cigar smokers, means earning enough to buy your next box of the chunky cigars that have been growing in popularity in Britain and the USA, especially during the last few years.
