Style is key to US brands

Some seriously eye catching packaging is helping premium handmade American cigars make waves in the United Kingdom market.

The transit packs for Macanudo, CAO and Helix cigars, distributed by Henri Wintermans UK (Loretta) have been well received by the cigar trade.

James Higgs, brand marketing manager, said that the non Cuban market was growing rapidly in real terms but the trade was not buying as much volume as it is in Havanas.

He said: “We wanted to give the retail trade a chance to take the range in small quantities, packs of six rather than having to buy 10s, 20s or 30s.

With the looming ban, Higgs is hoping the smaller quantities will allow retailers the chance to pick and chose from the range.
