Rising star for Cuban cigarsCuban cigar importer Hunters and Frankau has a new boss – and they’re keeping it a family affair.Jemma Freeman has been appointed managing director of the company. She joined the firm in 2000 after the death of her father, Nicholas Freeman, who was chairman of Hunters. Ms Freeman, who was educated at Marlborough College and Manchester University, learnt her trade from her father and working under the tutelage of Jean Clark in Fox’s cigar outlet in Harrods. She also worked in Fox’s cigar shop in St James Street, and with Tom Assheton while he was setting up TomTom cigars. Ms Freeman has been director of business development and export markets for a while. Her mother sits on the board of directors and her brother, Charlie, has also joined the company.
