The Caribbean island celebrates its most iconic export

Passion, colour, music, the warmth of old friends and above all sharing some of the best cigars in the world pretty much sums up the ethos of the ninth Habanos Festival held earlier this year.

Several special cigars were launched at the festival. Top quality tobacco, which has been laid down to age in bales up to five years ago, is finding its way in to the limited editions and special series.

The glamourous Gala Dinner was dedicated to the Montecristo and in particular the No.4, the most smoked ring in the history of Habanos, selling more than one billion cigars since its launch in 1935.

The new Montecristo No.4 Reserva, one of the latest special editions, was introduced at this exclusive event.

Its wrapper, filler and binder leaves have been aged for three years. These very special cigars are packaged in luxury black lacquered cases of 20 double-ringed cigars, the brands and the specific Reserva ring. There will only be 5,000 numbered cases of this Habano.

More than 700 cigar lovers from across the world attended the event which, with music, dance and good Habanos, made it a night to remember.

Distinguished Cuban artists performed live during the gala, and the guests had the chance to taste leading Montecristo sizes during a musical show specially staged for the occasion.

As well as some new tantalising cigars, some of the latest hot designs for the tubes were indroduced during the festival and gala. One magnificent example to look out for is the Montecristo Edmundo .....
