It’s all go for one of the greatest cigar producing nations – new limited editions, new packaging and some serious quality tobacco

It is an exciting time for fans of Cuban cigars with some of the best quality smokes to come out of the island for decades.

Top quality tobacco, which has been laid down each year for aging in bales since the turn of the century, is now finding its way in to the latest limited editions and special series to hit humidors near you.

It’s not just limited editions that are going to be the big things to come out of Cuba, keep your eyes open for some serious innovation in standard sizes within the major brands as well.

Habanos SA is to look at each of the major brands in turn to give them eye catching and taste bud tingling make overs. (Habanos SA is the company responsible for marketing and distributing Cuban cigars globally. It is jointly owned by the Cuban industry and the Franco-Spanish corporation Altadis SA.) One of the first things you will notice is the revamp of the branding on the tubes. Rather than go for a uniform look across the whole range, each brand gets a distinct livery of its own.

The latest example to hit the market is the Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill in a stunning new livery that will be reflected in the rest of the brand soon.

It’s the first Robusto size from Habanos to be offered in a tube.

Habanos SA marketing director Enrique Babot revealed the shake up earlier this year.

The changes stem from the totally new design of sliding-cap tube for the Cohiba Siglo VI tube, which was launched two years ago.
