It’s the smoker’s equivalent of a bank vault – which you can dip in to any time you are passing.It also provides retailers with a good excuse to remind you that your stocks of hand-rolled cigars are running low or introduce you to a new brand that may suit your taste. Indeed, there are several well-known specialist cigar merchants around the UK who have made a very good living for almost thirty years from this approach. While their customer is browsing through their beloved cigars, he or she can be encouraged to relax with a cup of tea or coffee – and meet other aficionados, which often leads to more sales. Not that you want to look after all of your customers’ cigars, for you would probably need a large warehouse. However you do need to store your cigars properly, because there is no better way to make a sale than with a cigar that is ready to smoke. By the way, if you are planning to install a humidified room on your premises, do avoid wearing strong aftershave or perfume. The controlled atmosphere of a walk-in humidor will cause those aromas to linger and affect your – and more importantly your customer’s – sense of smell while choosing a cigar, which are very porous.
