Scottish Member’s Bill threatens cigar bars and restaurants

Cigar smokers are under fire in Scotland after a Nationalist MSP introduced a bill aimed at curbing smoking near food.

Stewart Maxwell’s ‘Prohibition of Smoking in Regulated Areas (Scotland) Bill’ proposes banning the service of food, except for a few snacks, in any room where a tobacco product has been smoked during the previous five days.

Restaurateurs and publicans would be subject to criminal prosecution if they allowed a customer to light up or if they had not displayed sufficient signs on the issue. The Scottish Parliament is calling for evidence by Friday 23rd April.
