Labelling Directives
Labelling of tobacco and cigar products.
EU Labelling Directives
Date to watch : NOW IN FORCE FOR CIGARS
• It is now illegal to sell cigar packs without the new Health Warnings and batch codes.
• It is also illegal to sell any cigar packs bearing names or descriptors like Mild or Light, which might suggest the product is less harmful to health.
Notes:
• Whether or not it is necessary to put HWs on displays, such as humidors, display cabinets or single sales trays, is a grey area. The regulations only apply to packs of cigars, not to displays. If in doubt, retailers should agree a solution with their local Trading Standards Officers.
